Biocides - XBINX® 19G

XBINX® 19G is supplied as a 19.2 - 20.4% of 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one (also called BIT) in Di-propylene Glycol / Caustic solution.

XBINX® 19G is an EPA registered (EPA Reg. Number: 70465-3)highly effective broad-spectrum biocide.

XBINX® 19G offers good end-use product compatibility and is used as a preservative in the following applications:

  • Synthetic Polymer Emulsions

  • Latex Paints

  • Aqueous Slurries

  • Photographic Emulsions

  • Metal Working Fluids

  • Oil Drilling Fluids

  • Ink Formulations

  • Use (in can) to prevent spoilage of pesticides, soaps and detergents

  • Adhesives and Paperboard

  • BENEFITS OF USING XBINX® 19G

Non- Formaldehde Release Agent XBINX® 19G is not a formaldehyde release agent and does not depend on formaldehyde for its efficacy.
pH Compatability XBINX® 19G is effective over a broad range of pH 4-12. It is a preferred choice for alkaline formulations where pH makes application of many common bactericides unusable.
Ease Of Use XBINX® 19G is an effective liquid glycol solution that remains fluid even under sub zero temperatures and can be metered easily into the process.
Stability Under Elevated Temperatures XBINX® 19G does not contain volatile components. It is stable under higher temperatures, which the product may be subjected to during manufacturing or storage conditions.
Broad Spectrum Efficacy XBINX® 19G bactericide is effective towards broad range of biological organisms typically responsible for product degradation.

    DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

XBINX® 19G is an effective preservative for most aqueous applications. The recommended use rate is 0.05-0.25% wt/wt of XBINX® 19G in the finished product.

ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES and AMOUNT TO USE

Bacteria, fungi, and yeast are common contaminates in metal working fluids, latex paint, synthetic emulsions, adhesives, inks, paper coatings, paperboard coatings, and other aqueous slurries. BIT is an effective broad spectrum preservative, preventing the growth of many bacteria, fungi, and yeast such as those shown below. Typical Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) required to control these microorganisms is 15 to 400 ppm. Trials may be required to optimize usage.

    Bacteria

    Fungi, Mold & Mildew

    Yeast

    Animal pathogenic bacteria

    Alternaria alternata

    Endomycopsis albicans

    Bacillis megaterium

    Alternaria radicina

    Rhodotorula rubra

    Bacillus subtilis

    Animal pathogenic fungi

    Saccharomyces cerevisiae (turbidans)

    Bacterial spores

    Aspergillus glacus

    Enterbacter cloacae

    Aspergillus niger

    Aureobasidium pullulans

    Pseudomonas aeruginosa

    Chaetomium globosum

    Pseudomonas putida

    Cladosporium cladosporides

    Salmonella typhosa

    Penicillium notatum

ADHESIVES & PAPERBOARD USED IN FOOD PACKAGING

XBINX® 19G components are cleared for use by the US FDA as set forth under Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Be sure to review the regulations for application rates.

    21CFR 175.105 - Components for adhesives
21CFR 176.170 - Components of paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty foods
21CFR 176.108 - Components of paperboard in contact with dry food
21CFR 176.300 - Slimicides (in the manufacture of paper and paperboard that contact food)

    PRECAUTIONS:

XBINX® 19G is a skin and eye irritant, and even small amounts can provoke dermatitis in sensitive individuals. Therefore, good housekeeping and safe operating procedures to reduce the chance of skin irritation and allergic reactions are necessary. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed protective information to prevent dermal contact.
